Port of Brownsville Overweight Corridor
The Port of Brownsville allows shippers to securely order specialized oversize/overweight permits online. The permits cover travel between the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville and the Port of Brownsville for vehicles weighing no more than the Mexican Legal Weight Limit or 125,000 lbs. The Port of Brownsville specialized oversize/overweight permit allows for the movement of oversize or overweight vehicles carrying cargo on the following roads:
- State Highway 48/State Highway 4 between the Gateway International Bridge and the entrance to the Port of Brownsville
- U.S. Highway 77/83 (I-69 E) and State Highway 48/State Highway 4 between the Veterans International Bridge and the entrance to the Port of Brownsville
Overweight Permit
The gross weight of cargo and equipment shall not exceed the allowable permittable axle load, the Mexican Legal Weight Limit, or 125,000 lbs., whichever is less, and the dimensions of the load and vehicle shall not exceed 12 wide, 15’6 high, or 110 long.
